Robin Hood Marathon

After 2 years running together – sometimes on very cold winter evenings and early Saturday mornings, often up hills - Emma and 2 friends, Mandie and Helen were all set for the Robin Hood Half Marathon.

I won't bore you with all the details but here are some highlights:

7.30am: left home after a large breakfast to get to Victoria Embankment for the start of the race at 10am along with 6,000 other entrants.

10.08am: crossed the start line-I hoped to complete the race in around 2 and a half hours. Fortunately it was quite a cool morning, although the sun felt hot when it did appear!

Running past Lenton church; seeing people standing outside and hearing music playing.

Five miles into our run the first runners passed us on their way back.

Being greeted by residents and drums as we ran up to Wollaton Park.

Reaching the top of the hill in Wollaton Park and being told – ‘it’s all down hill now!’

Seeing Ken Hensby standing by the gates at Victoria Embankment!

The last few yards: finding a burst of energy and crossing the finish line in a very admirable 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Eating a Mars Bar and crisps after the race! Meeting up with my family.

Would I do it again? I think so!

I am delighted to have raised over £1,000 for Time Travelling.

A really huge thank you to everyone who sponsored me and encouraged me.
